Spiritual AF, But Not Your Average “Woo Woo”…
Let’s talk about the perception of what being “spiritual” actually looks like – or what some people like to call “Woo Woo” .
Spoiler alert: it’s NOT what you think!
For the longest time, people have had this cookie-cutter image in their head of what a spiritual person “should” look like. You know the type – tie-dye shirts, floaty hemp dresses, barefoot in the supermarket, hair like they’ve just stepped out of a wind tunnel, preaching peace and kale juice. And hey, if that’s your vibe, go for it!
But here’s the thing: you don’t have to dress in tie-dye or natural fibres, ditch your shoes, or adopt the barefoot lifestyle to be spiritual. You can totally meditate in ripped jeans, a cute mini skirt or a power suit if that’s what makes you feel like your highest self.
Then there’s the idea that you have to be a full-blown “hippy” or live minimally to be considered spiritual. Nope. You don’t have to sell all your possessions, live in a van, or survive on lentils. You can love life’s luxuries, enjoy driving a beautiful car, indulge in fine dining, or have a wardrobe full of designer fashion – and still be able to connect deeply with your higher self. Minimalism is a lifestyle choice, not a spiritual requirement.
The same goes for what’s on your plate. Being vegan, vegetarian, or fruitarian can be amazing if it feels aligned with You – but it doesn’t define whether you can manifest or not. You can enjoy a steak and a beer on a Friday night and still raise your vibration on the Saturday morning. Spirituality isn’t about food rules – it’s about awareness, alignment, and energy.
And let’s not forget the “activities checklist” that people often associate with being spiritual or “Woo Woo” – drum circles, full moon festivals or healing groups, sure, they can be powerful and fun if you’re into them, but they’re not the golden ticket. Your spiritual connection could be as simple as journaling, walking your puppa, or dancing around the lounge room to your favourite playlist. It’s not about where you are or who you’re with – it’s about creating those little moments that help you tune in to yourself.
Another big myth? That you have to be all “love and light” 24/7. Let’s get real – having boundaries is spiritual too! You don’t have to tolerate toxic energy or keep smiling through situations that drain you, just to fit the “peaceful spiritual” stereotype. Protecting your energy is just as important as sharing it, and spirituality is about living authentically, not pretending life is perfect. And trust me, if someone comes at me with disrespect or aggression, I never hesitate to deliver a “verbal slapdown” – because nothing says “aligned” like standing firmly in your power!
At the end of the day, you don’t have to be “Woo Woo” to raise your energy, connect with your spirit guides, and manifest the life you want. Spirituality isn’t about how you look, what you wear, or whether you chant in Sanskrit. It’s about your intention, your vibration, and your belief in creating something better for yourself.
So whether you’re into crystals and meditation, or you just want to dip your toes into affirmations and visualisations without going full “Woo Woo,” you belong here!
Your spirituality is yours to define! You don’t need to fit into anyone’s mould. You just need to show up as yourself, open up to raising your energy, and start aligning with the life you dream of. The rest is just personal style.
